Staying awake all night in London

Well, we got through the first let of our journey, landing safely in London around 10 am Sunday morning, after freshening up, we were going to just lay around the hotel, but later decided to rally the energy and grab a bus back over to the airport so we could Underground to central London. The tube was hot and humid because London is enjoying some amazing heatwave weather.

We went directly to Embankment and walked across the bridge to a botanical garden.  After taking pictures and strolling around we went into The Princess of Wales pub on Argyle Street for some tasty fish n chips.  Our minds were in a bit of a fog, to be honest.  When we sat down for lunch, it was 5am California time and we had not slept. Stephani got a few hours on the plane, but not me.

So we headed back to the hotel to get some sleep.  But before that, the hotel announced in all rooms it was time to test the fire alarm.  This Sheraton is right at the end of the runway for Heathrow so I can imagine they are concerned about safety, and evacuation. We wish they showed the same concern for the black mold growing between the tiles in the shower.

I slept from 7:30 to 12:30, then got up to take a ZQuil because my mind was racing and I could not get a full night's sleep. Stephani was awake part of the night too.

That's our initial update on Day 1. The next day we will be off to Inverness, Scotland.
