Glasgow was wonderful

So sorry the pace of our blogging hasn’t been what we expected. We have been making the most of each day and find that there’s very little time left over to put a daily recap together.

After spending a few days in beautiful Inverness we set off for Glasgow. We discovered a very happening city, full of wonderful museums and character. We stayed at the wonderful Indigo Hotel, which features a Marco Pierre White Steak House restaurant. Marco was the original “Hell’s Kitchen” host before Gordon Ramsey made the show more popular in the United States. Marco was a very close friend of Anthony Bourdain and was featured in the “London’s” episode of “Parts Unknown.”

When Glasgow hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the slogan “People Make Glasgow” was postered all over town, and it was such a popular campaign, they have decided to keep it, and its wonderful because Glasgow is a city with a very violent past. It was considered a very risky place in my youth, a place to be avoided, especially if you were English. But the Glasgow of today is a thriving, bustling metropolis filled with people of all walks of life.

Best bet is to get an all day “Hop on Hop Off” bus pass and take the entire tour, and then go back to see things which interested you.  I was lucky to identify a few places where I could send the drone up for some aerial footage. The videos will have to be edited when we get back home though because there’s just not enough time while here.

The food in Glasgow is great and we had some lovely lunches at little coffee shops. Discovered the great taste of Tennant’s lager, so refreshing after a long day hoofing around Glasgow.

The Clyde river is a wonderful spot to visit, there’s a distillery and an old tall ship moored there.

Kelvin Park is very beautiful, lots of tree coverage to get shade in this mid-summer heatwave we’ve been enjoying.

On our last day in Glasgow, we decided to divide and conquer as getting drone shots was advisable very early in the day, so I went to the Clydeside and Kelvin Park area, and then in the afternoon took a train out to Stirling, where I toured the wonderful Stirling Castle.  Despite some windy conditions, I managed to get a little bit of aerial footage of the castle and was able to then go inside for some additional video. The views were simply remarkable.

Back in Glasgow, Stephani went to several historic places, climbing lots of hills to get to them.  We met up later in the evinging for a lovely dinner at Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse.

Next up would be Edinburgh... which we are now just starting to discover.
