(25-April) Bondi
We've been having fun traveling around Italy. We are currently camped out in beautiful Florence where we have found several great places to eat and be merry. One such place is Bondi, located on Via Nazionale, 45/47r. We had actually almost past it by, and were stopped by the wonderful aroma coming from the front out onto the main street, but we were heading to a pizza place up the road. The waiter had a very friendly "eat here" look on his face, so it was hard to walk away, but we really wanted to try out that pizza place down the road. As luck would have it, when we arrived, the pizza place down the road was closed on Wednesday, so we doubled back and were greeted like long lost relatives and welcomed in at Bondi.

Bondi has what a lot of other restaurants have in Florence, rustic, authentic Italian dining, but it has one other element which sets it apart.. Soul. The patriarch of this restaurant looks to be about the same age as my Mum, probably should have retired years ago, but her heart has been in this business for years and well, what else would she do, but make delicious food? She hobbles to the front to engage with visitors old and new, prepares desserts at the counter, and generally pours her heart into it.
Tonight we will be going over to see if that Pizza place is open, if not, we will be back at Bondi.
